Kelp is a
marine algae common to oceanic coastlines around the world. It
contains many trace minerals as would be expected coming from the
sea.
A very well known
food supplement, and it, along with seaweeds, is very good for the
garden as well.
Some sprinkle it
on foods in granular form, but others find this unpalatable.Because the
plant’s nutrients come in a natural form, they are easily
assimilated by the body.
The iodine content
of Kelp provides the nutrient necessary to support underactive
thyroid glands, which in turn may assist metabolism.
Common names: Rock weed, spiral
rock weed, norwegian kelp, knotted kelp, knotted wrack or egg wrack.
( Ascophyllum nodosum Fucus sp), fingered kelp, oarweed (Laminaria
digitata),
sugar kelp (Laminaria saccharina).
