Hydrangea
is a deciduous shrub growing up to 3m tall and is native to the
eastern United States.
A common and beautiful floral shrub in many
people's gardens, using the cultivated varieties, but the wild shrubs do not
usually come to flower in the same way. The flower ball remains tiny and
insignificant rather than the common variety shown in the picture above.
The bark peels off
in different coloured layers and was named “seven barks”.
Nutritionally good for the urinary
system, it is said that this herb was originally used to support the kidneys by the
Cherokee Indians.
It has solvent properties and was used
for gravel in the kidneys and bladder by the early settlers.

stone root, seven barks, smooth hydrangea, wild hydrangea.
