GYMNEMA
(60 caps) (Gymnema Sylvestre).
Single herb (leaf used).
Extract equivalent to dry Gymnema Sylvestre Leaf Powder.
2g per capsule.
Recommended on the label :
Two capsules just
before meals once to twice daily (aged 18 years and over)
Other ingredients: Kosher
gelatin and water capsule.
Properties: Stomachic,
diuretic, refrigerant, astringent, and tonic.

Gymnema, it is said, has been traditionally
used to nutritionally help maintain already normal blood sugar
levels by the Indian health practitioners for centuries.
The Hindu name for the substance
(gurmar) means destroyer of sugar.
The leaves, when chewed, block sweet
tastes in the mouth which explains the Hindi name Gurmar meaning
"sugar destroyer".
It may help in reducing the taste of
sugar in the mouth temporarily when put directly onto the taste
buds. This in turn may reduce sugar cravings.
It is a woody climbing plant found in
the tropical forests of central and southern India.
Common names:
Gurmari,
Gurmarbooti, Gurmar, periploca of the woods, Meshasringa, Ram’s Horn.
Precautions:
Not if you are pregnant or lactating.
Not if you are currently taking any
prescription medication to treat diabetes or other blood sugar
conditions.
People allergic to plants in the
Asclepiadaceae (milkweed) family should avoid Gymnema.

check first to see if this herb is compatible.
