BLESSED THISTLE
(100 caps) (Cnicus Benedictus).
Single herb (leaves, stems and
flowers used).
325 mg per capsule.
Recommended on the label: 2 capsule with 2 meals daily.
Other Ingredients: Kosher
gelatin and water capsule.
Properties: Alterative,
Cephalic, Cholagogue, Digestive Tonic, Emmenagogue, Galactagogue,
Hepatoprotective, Nervine, Stomachic, Tonic.
Nutrients: Bitter glycosides,
including cnicin (a type of sesquiterpene lactone), alkaloids, volatile oil, tannins; mucilage,
sesquiterpene lactones (digestion),
lignans.
Nutrition for: Female
reproductive system, liver, appetite, digestion, lactation, inflamed
and/or febrile situations, yeast situations.
Blessed thistle is generally
used to provide nutrition for liver function and the female reproductive system,
and also to improve digestion. It may also provide the nutrition to promote
breast feeding.
When there is loss of appetite this
herb may help, especially if the loss of appetite is associated with
depression.
It is a very bitter herb.
It can also be applied as a poultice
for aching areas.
The herb is
usually put onto a soft cloth, heated and applied
to the injured areas.
Be careful
with the amount of heat applied.
Blessed Thistle is used as a flavouring for
food and drinks in some countries, with authorised approval.

Thistle.
Precautions:
Use in small doses as great excess may
cause vomiting.
If you are allergic to plants in the
Asteraceae/Compositae family, ie bitter weed, blanket flower,
chrysanthemum, coltsfoot, daisy, dandelion, dwarf sunflower,
goldenrod, marigold, prairie sage, ragweed, and others, then it is
wise to avoid Blessed Thistle.
If on any drugs for any problem at all,
