Black Walnut acts as an
astringent or toner because it is rich in tannins.
The ancient Greeks used it for the skin
and the intestinal system. and it was also traditionally used by the
North American Indians.
The unripe hulls of the black walnut contain vitamin C and the
trace minerals chromium and iodine. The iodine is noticeably present
as brown stains in the green hulls.
It may have a mild laxative action for
some due to the astringent properties and this generally expels
worms in the intestines. I have used it for ringworm on my dog's skin with
rapid results.
