Yellow dock is a member of
the buckwheat family and grows
abundantly thoughout the US.
Pioneers used this herb as nutritional
support for the urinary system.
The active principles include
anthraquinones, which are responsible
for the mild colon stimulating
activity, along with encouraging
bile & digestive juice production.
It also contains tannins, which
provide an astringent or tightening
and toning effect. This toning
effect helps body parts to function
better or become stronger.
If there are skin problems
due to sluggish bowel action
this may also be helped.
Yellow dock is rich in ascorbic
acid (vitamin C), vitamin A
and iron, and is often used
to improve iron levels in pregnant
women and those suffering from
anemia. White spots before the
eyes and very pale inner eye
lids can be a sign of low iron
levels, along with tiredness
and palour of skin colour.
